About The Position
State Regulatory Attorney: Eversource Energy, a Fortune 500 diversified electric, natural gas and water utility company with operations throughout New England, seeks to hire a full-time regulatory attorney. The position primarily involves counseling and representing Eversource companies before state regulatory agencies regarding utility ratemaking and related regulated utility operations. The position will also involve providing legal advice and counsel in related matters. The position is located in Berlin, CT, and will require the successful candidate to appear in-person, when necessary, for hearings before Connecticut state agencies. This position is eligible, under Eversource’s current flexible work policy, for work from home up to two days per week as business circumstances permit.
Duties & Responsibilities
Candidates admitted to the Connecticut Bar are preferred; however, all candidates admitted to practice in another state and in good standing will be considered. As a condition of employment, admission to the Connecticut Bar will be required within one year. Utility ratemaking and litigation experience before state utility regulatory agencies is a plus. The successful candidate must be self-motivated and be able to assume independent responsibility for litigation and advice for complex regulatory and other legal matters, working closely with in-house legal resources, company management and, in certain limited cases, outside counsel. Being a good team player, well-organized, and able to identify business-oriented solutions to legal problems are important qualities to ensure success. The candidate must also demonstrate excellent written and oral communications skills and legal research abilities.
Requirements
Minimum of 4 years of experience in a law firm, government or corporate law department.
Licenses & Certifications:
Candidates admitted to the Connecticut Bar are preferred; however, all candidates admitted to practice in another state and in good standing will be considered. As a condition of employment, admission to the Connecticut Bar will be required within one year.
Education
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree and Juris Doctor degree.

Joelle A. Murchison combines her passion and expertise in education, equity & inclusion and communications in her work as the Founder & Principal of ExecMommyGroup LLC (EMG), an inclusion and leadership strategic consulting practice.
A career diversity and inclusion champion, Murchison, a graduate of Brown University, Harvard Graduate School of Education and Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications, also currently serves as the Executive Director of The Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity and as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Connecticut School of Business.
A native of Queens, and raised in Long Island, NY, Joelle takes her professional and leadership queues from her mother, a trailblazer in her own right, who was the first African American woman manager in the Social Security Administration in the 1970s. Joelle began her career in higher education followed by a stint in the non-profit sector; then transitioning to corporate America – first with United Technologies and then as the inaugural Chief Diversity Officer at Travelers Insurance. Murchison returned to higher education in 2016 as the inaugural Chief Diversity Officer at the University of Connecticut where she served before launching EMG.
A recipient of numerous awards, Joelle serves as the chair of the board of RE-Center Race and Equity in Education and is a member of the board of directors and chair of the Human Capital and Diversity committee for College Possible, a national nonprofit focused on college access. In 2020, Joelle was elected to serve as a trustee of the Corporation of Brown University, the university’s decision-making body and currently serves as the chair of the Corporation’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion standing committee.
Additionally in her most demanding yet fulfilling role, Joelle is the mother of four children between the ages of 7 and 18 who are the wind beneath her wings. At her core, she is passionate about encouraging and inspiring all people to reach their highest potential and about creating space for open dialogue to enhance inclusion and understanding.
